How to See Transcript on YouTube
Learn how to view, copy, and download transcripts on YouTube. This guide will show you step-by-step how to access video transcripts for language learning.
Step-by-Step Instructions

Open the YouTube video
Navigate to the YouTube video you want to see the transcript for. Make sure the video has captions available (most videos do).

Click the three dots menu
Below the video player, click on the three dots (⋯) button next to the Save button.

Select "Show transcript"
In the menu that appears, click on "Show transcript" or "Transcript". The transcript panel will open on the right side of the video.

View and interact with the transcript
You can now see the full transcript with timestamps. Click on any line to jump to that part of the video. You can also copy the text.
Tips for Using Transcripts
- •Most YouTube videos have auto-generated captions, but manually added captions are usually more accurate.
- •You can copy the entire transcript by selecting all text and copying it.
- •Clicking on any transcript line will jump to that timestamp in the video.
